Ooty or Udhagamandalam is widely known as Queen of Hills. It is just 90 plus Kilometers from the industrial city, Coimbatore. Ooty is quite different from Kodaikanal, another famous hill station in South India. Ooty is more like a city, but Kodaikanal is the place for nature lovers. If you travel little away from Ooty city, you will be engulfed by greenery, nature, along the curly roads.
Ooty is connected by a mountain railway which is a heritage one and you should never miss the uphill journey in the rack and pinion tracks. The train starts from Mettupalayam which is in between Coimbatore and Ooty. The train from Mettupalayam reaches Ooty via Coonoor. The trip from Mettupalayam to Coonoor is a steep uphill journey in Rack and Pinion tracks in which the train moves very slowly and will make you mingle with nature gradually.
The Coonoor to Ooty trip is not steep and the train starts to move in plains. You will enjoy the rich flora and fauna of the Udhagai hills during the train travel. You have to reserve the train tickets in advance as usually there will be a very long queue in the ticket counters.
